Vermox (generic name: Mebendazole; brand names include: Ovex / Antiox / Pripsen / Mebex / Wormin) belongs to a group of medicines called anthelmintics.

Vermox is used in the treatment of worm infections.

Vermox is used to treat:

Common roundworms (ascariasis)
Hookworm infections (uncinariasis)
Pinworms (enterobiasis; oxyuriasis)
Whipworms (trichuriasis)

Vermox can be used to treat more than one worm infection at a time.

This medicine may also be used for other worm infections as determined by your doctor.

Vermox works by preventing the worm from absorbing essential sugars needed for survival. This leads to the eventual death of the parasite within a few days.
