Amaryl (generic name: glimepiride; brand names include: Diapride / Amyline / Euglim) is an oral anti-diabetic medicine of the sulfonylurea class.

Amaryl is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes to lower blood glucose in people whose blood glucose cannot be controlled by diet and exercise only.

Amaryl may be used alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic drugs.

For the better control of blood glucose, anti-diabetic drugs should always be used along with proper diet and exercises.

Recommendations

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Amaryl exactly as directed.

The usual starting dose is 1-2 mg once daily. Amaryl should be taken with breakfast or the first main meal of the day.

The following maintenance dose is 1-4 mg once daily, depending on your response to the medicine.
