Pirfenidone

Pirfenidone (brand manes include: Esbriet, Pirfenex, Pirfenax) is a medication used for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Pirfenidone has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antifibrotic properties. It is being studied for the treatment of several other fibrotic conditions.

Pirfenidone may improve lung function and reduce the number of acute exacerbations in patients with IPF.

Pirfenidone has been proposed as a treatment for COVID-19 related lung fibrosis.
