Cleocin
Cleocin (generic name: clindamycin; brand names include: Clindatec / Dalacin / Clinacin / Evoclin) is used to treat a wide variety of serious bacterial infections including infections of the respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, pelvis, vagina, and abdomen.
It is also used to treat bone and joint infections, particularly those caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
Cleocin kills sensitive bacteria by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.
Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Cleocin exactly as directed.
Cleocin may be taken with or without food.
Take Cleocin with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL).
Cleocin works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
To clear up your infection completely, take Cleocin for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
If you miss a dose of Cleocin , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Keep Cleocin at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
Precautions
Contact your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
you are allergic to any kind of medications;
you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had gastrointestinal, liver, or kidney disease.
