Hydroxychloroquine (trade names include: Plaquenil) is used to prevent or treat malaria infections; and to treat certain auto-immune diseases.

Indications include:

treatment of uncomplicated malaria
prophylaxis of malaria
treatment of chronic discoid lupus erythematosus
treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus
treatment of acute and chronic rheumatoid arthritis

Hydroxychloroquine has also shown promising results as a potential treatment for COVID-19.
