Mobic (generic name: meloxicam; brand names include: Melonex / Muvera / Movalis / Melox / Recoxa / Moxen / Mobec / Mobicox / Tenaron / Melocam) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class.

Mobic is COX-2 selective, which means it causes less stomach problems than traditional NSAIDs.

Mobic is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and oesteoarthritis, both of which are painful joint diseases. Mobic relieves symptoms such as pain and inflammation.

Mobic works by preventing the production of irritant chemicals that cause pain and inflammation in the body.

Conseils d’utilisation

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Mobic exactly as directed.

The usual dose of Mobic is 7.5 mg, taken as a single dose each day.

For patients with kidney problems undergoing dialysis, the maximum recommended daily dose is 7.5 mg.

Swallow the tablets with fluid. It is best to take Mobic immediately after food. Try to take Mobic at the same time each day, either morning or evening.

You may need to take Mobic for a long time. Keep in touch with your doctor (at least every three months) during this time. Keep taking Mobic every day until your doctor tells you to stop.

If you take cholestyramine, ask your doctor or pharmacist how to take it with Mobic.

If you forget to take Mobic and it is almost time for your next dose (e.g. within 2-3 hours), skip the dose you missed. Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, then go back to taking it as you would normally. Do not try to make up for missed doses by taking more than one dose at a time.

Keep Mobic in a cool dry place. Mobic should not be stored in direct sunlight or heat.

Précautions à prendre

Before taking Mobic, tell your doctor if:

you are allergic to any medicines;
you have a stomach ulcer; or severe liver, kidney, or heart problems;
