Aciphex (generic name: Rabeprazole; brand names: Pariet / Rablet) is a proton pump inhibitor used for the treatment of certain conditions caused by too much acid being produced in the stomach.

Aciphex is used for the short-term (4 to 8 weeks) and maintenance treatment of erosive acid reflux disease (gastroesophageal reflux disease) in adults. It helps to relieve persistent, frequent (2 or more days a week) heartburn and other symptoms associated with acid reflux disease.

Clinical studies show that many people experience complete heartburn relief, day and night, when taking Aciphex daily. It even provides relief for people with severe heartburn.

Aciphex can be taken with or without food. It is usually taken once a day for 4 to 8 weeks, but it is sometimes taken for a longer time. When taken for ulcers, Aciphex should be taken after the morning meal. When taken in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, Aciphex is taken twice a day, with the morning and evening meals, for 7 days.

Swallow the tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them.

If you miss a dose of Aciphex, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Store this medicine at room temperature, away from light and moisture.

Precauciones

Tell your doctor before taking Aciphex, if:

you are allergic to Aciphex or any other medication;
you have or have ever had liver disease;
you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
